The HomeCare 101 and 201 Workshops provide valuable education and training for home health managers with different levels of experience.  Both workshops are offered throughout the year at the OCHCH offices in Columbus, OH.

Home Care 101 was developed for newly certified home health agency staff including administration, billing and clinical; new staff of an existing agency (including occupational and physical therapists, and speech language pathologists); and private duty agency administrators considering becoming a Medicare certified agency.

The purpose of the Home Care 101 program is to give attendees an up-to-date overview of the operations of a Medicare certified home health agency.  The participants gain knowledge of the Conditions of Participation (CoP), Medicare Manuals (defines PPS billing requirements, plan of care completion, and skilled, intermittent, homebound, reasonable and necessary care), an overview of survey preparation and process, and the role of clinicians in driving financial results.  Individuals gain an understanding of the role of OASIS and adverse events in agency operations.  The Ohio Home Care Program (Medicaid) and PASSPORT will also be discussed.

Home Care 201 is best suited to individuals who have a minimum of 3 years experience in home health management and operation of an established Medicare certified agency.  This program has been developed to assist experienced home health managers to enhance the operational performance of their home care agency.  The introductory Home Care 101 course provides the basics of home care operations.  Home Care 201 is the next level.  Improving clinical performance and financial management is the focus of Home Care 201.  Essential to improving agency operations is identifying clinical issues that impact performance.  This program provides strategies to refine and improve billing performance as well as explain the important relationship between clinical and financial areas of the agency.  Future viability of home care operations will be determined by the impact of the Recovery Audit Contractor.   We will identify risk areas related to the Recovery Audit Contractor as well as provide techniques to avoid potential denial of claims.

Both Home Care 101, and Home Care 201 programs offer continuing education credits to RNs, LPNs, OTs, PTs, and SLPs.

Sansio recognizes that industry awareness, education, and training are important factors to the success of home care and hospice agencies,” said Sansio Vice President of Sales Kraig Erickson.  “The Ohio Council for Home Care & Hospice provides exceptional value to its members through these informational and educational resources.  Being supportive of these resources is consistent with Sansio’s mission of helping home care and hospice agencies improve their clinical, operational, financial, and regulatory performance by utilizing HomeSolutions.NET to manage their agency.”
